A flame; a gentle, glowing fire.
A warm light; especially one produced by fire.
She sat beside the lowe of the dying, rutilant, conflagration; pretending to read but mostly just lost in thought.
Something warm, quietly radiant, and technically already spoken for — like a fire that belongs to someone else's hearth.
Old Norse logi ("flame"), cousin to the Old English līeg and related to the modern Icelandic logi. The Norse left fire wherever they went — villages, coastlines, dictionaries.
