頑張る

Gan·ba·ru (頑張る) is a Japanese term that translates to 'stand firm.'

Ganbaru (also spelt 'gambaru') is often said to help others in 'staying determined through tough times.'

頑張る is also commonly meant to mean 'do your best!'

Gambaru focuses on the importance of finishing a task and never stopping until a goal is achieved. The continuing effort to overcome obstacles (even in the event of failure) is a sacred concept in Japan.
